Jessica Namchuk, Nurse Psychotherapist
PLEASE NOTE** Jessica is not seeing minors currently
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, I have been serving the local communities of Spruce Grove and Stony Plain for 14 years. I have a passion for Community Health and have now specialized in Psychotherapy. Being married for 12 years, having had 4 children, and continued working, I understand the challenges of everyday life. I found my passion for mental health after I struggled with post-partum depression and had other stresses in my life that were out of my control. This time in my life was very difficult because I didn’t know how to begin getting help.
We all have behaviors that we do not particularly enjoy about ourselves that happen regularly, such as overeating, sadness, anxiety, anger, fears, work/ family stressors, negative self talk, and trouble setting healthy boundaries. Trying to make change can be very hard because we are not always in control or aware of our triggers leading to our negative behavioral cycles. My goal is to help you identify your cycles and figure out why they may have begun in the first place. Not until we identify all the factors then can we begin to find the appropriate place to make positive change! I will be there to support you in brainstorming goals and different ways to move forward to a healthier you.
This type of more structured Solution-Focused Therapy is called CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) or DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). Working with me can be short term or long-term depending on the behaviors that you are looking to modify. This type of therapy also can work well in conjunction with other therapy if you already have a regular therapist. Being a Nurse (LPN) Psychotherapist, I can also support individuals with a well-rounded approach to health. I can help you to navigate within the community if more support is required.
Life can be very stressful, and everyone’s story is unique. My goal is that if we start making positive change and breaking negative generational behaviors that maybe our future generations will not have the same struggles. Remember you are not alone, and I look forward to meeting each and everyone one of you and supporting you!
