Geordy Murphy, MA, Provisional Psychologist
I started my education with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry with Pastoral Counselling as a focus from Briercrest College in Saskatchewan. I pursued a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, NB, and obtained a Provisional Psychologist status. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Gottman Level 1 for Couples Counselling.
Over the last 5 years I have working as a Community Based Mental Health Therapist in Edmonton, gaining experience helping with multiple issues with all ages. Recently I have started my own counselling practice called iMentalHealth Inc, while also gaining new opportunities with Parkland Wellness Centre.
I am super excited to be working with Parkland Wellness Centre because I believe in their vision, purpose and genuine care for clients and staff. I am so pumped for this opportunity to work with a team of wonderful people and continue making a positive impact in the Community.
I have personally had experience with the challenge of finding help for family members dealing with mental health challenges and not being able to navigate the system or get proper help. I want to help be that bridge for people to access support and come up with a plan to help you and your family. I have a special interest and experience for those dealing with diagnosis of critical illness and the grief around this as I am a survivor of a critical illness so can offer that experiential wisdom and connection to those in a similar situation.
Overall, I am passionate about working with others, seeing people get support and encouraging those in their journey.
